The AAPT PhysicsBowl is a 45-minute timed, 40-question multiple-choice test that is taken by approximately 10,000 students annually. Students may choose to compete in two divisions (I and II). The CAP is the most widespread physics contest in Canada. It serves as the team selection test for Canada's IPhO team, and the top 5 scores on the CAP are selected to participate in the IPhO. The Sir Issac Newton Exam (SIN) is a physics contest hosted by the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Waterloo. Most of the questions are mechanics-based, however optics and general physics concepts have been tested in the past. Top scoring students may be awarded scholarships for the University of Waterloo. The OAPT contest is a multiple-choice physics contest intended for grade 11 physics students (first-year learning physics, although grade 12s may compete in a separate division). The Canadian Astronomy Olympiad is the team selection contest for Canada's IOAA (International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics) team. Questions are posted on the website annually in May and competitors are given one month to send their solutions in.
